The homeowners had a long but very shallow backyard but desired a pool. They were open to any ideas we had.
We took the long shallow backyard and came up with a pool design that included an upper shallow pool for young children and a natural boulder waterfall that connected the upper pool to a lower deep pool for diving. Stone patios connect the pool to the wooded backdrop of the property.
A major utility line ran through where we wanted to put the pool so we had to work with the city and move the line, which was an extra expense, but worth it considering the end result. Also, the porous character of the natural boulders in the waterfall created somewhat of a challenge in the fact that we had to find and seal each hole where the water could escape through. The time was worth it. The boulders give a unique look to this pool and compliments well with the dry laid stone retaining walls and stone patio.
